Mother’s Day & Memories

Jenna & CarterMother’s Day is a special, joy-filled day for so many and a day of grief for many others. For me, it is a combination of the two. Since my mama passed when I was a little girl there has always been some sorrow attached to this day. My two incredible babies have brought beautiful redemption to this day. Though I wish with all my heart my mama could be here to meet them, to give me advice and encouragement and to be a wonderful grandma to my children, her passing has left me with an urgency; urgency to live every day to the fullest, to cherish the little things and to be a preserver of memories. My grandmother who also passed a few years ago kept journals for her grandchildren. They are filled with photos, memories, and musings. These journals are some of my most treasured possessions. I want to preserve memories for my babies in the same way my grandmother did for me. This is why I make time to journal for my kids, this is why I value photography so, so much.

As Bob Dylan once said, “Take care of all your memories, for you cannot relive them.”
